Baptism

Baptisms at both St Francis of Assisi, Paddington or St Joseph, Edgecliff:

To have your child baptised please contact the Parish Office via email (please click on the contact us button) or by calling 9331 4043 and provide the following information:

1. Your current residential address
2. Best contact phone number
3. The age of your child
4. Your involvement/link with the parish
5. The religious denomination of both parents

All baptisms will be celebrated on an individual basis on a commonly agreed date and time, this can be any day of the week as agreed with the officiating priest. A priest will be assigned once the above details are received.

Bookings must be made no later than four (4) weeks prior to the baptism.  Parents are expected to attend preparation before the Baptism ceremony which will be organised with the priest.

Please note that at least one of the Godparents must be Catholic, the other needs to be Christian.

If you live outside the parish boundary you will need to provide written permission from your local Parish Priest to proceed.

COVID-19 Protocols:
Individual baptisms only.
Live-streaming is permitted however you must supply your own phone/camera.
Numbers are limited as follows:
St Francis of Assisi, Paddington: 50 people max (including priest, child, parents, Godparents and any paid employees/volunteers)
St Joseph, Edgecliff: 35 people max (including priest, child, parents, Godparents and any paid employees/volunteers)
All those attending must sign-in and sanitise their hands on entry and exit. The Parish will provide the sign in form, it is your responsibility to ensure all attendees are listed on this form and that the form is given to the priest at the end of the baptism.
Seating arrangements in the church cannot be changed and social distancing of 1.5m needs to be maintained. Social gatherings outside of the church must be avoided.
For your safety the baptismal water will be freshly blessed during the ceremony during the ceremony and the holy water will only be used once during your child’s baptism.
The church will also be santised before and after the ceremony.
